Butterfly Habitat

Take inspiration form the wonderful nature on display at Folkestone Museum and create your own 3D paper butterfly habitat! Using the supplies provided, decorate and build your own butterfly home.

All materials will be provided. The workshop is for ages 7+ and is a bookable event. Email sian.drew@folkestone-tc.gov.uk to book your place. Places are £2 per child (payable on the day).


Bug Road Show

Come give a ‘bug a hug’ at the Bug Roadshow where there will be giant moths and mega millipedes for you to meet. This event is a FREE drop-in event, no booking required. Donations are gratefully received with a suggested donation of £2 or more per visit. There are three colourful donation boxes around the Museum for you to use.


Stained Glass Nature Craft

Enter the wonderful and hidden world of the minibeasts! This nature themed art workshop is for parents and children. Using a range of arts supplies you can create your own colourful minibeast! The session is on a first come first served basis and the room will fill up fast!

Découpage Bunnies

Take inspiration from the Museum’s collection and create your own découpage bunny! Pick any size bunny and glue on different coloured tissue paper to create a multi-coloured masterpiece!

Postcard Making

Postcards were an integral part of the booming British Seaside Town of the Victorian era. Using pencils and other supplies you can create your own vintage postcard designs. The session will be on a first come first served basis and the room will fill up fast!

Punch and Judy Show!

29, 31 July & 2 August

Mr Punch and his wife Judy will be doing three performances as part of our Victorian Seaside at Folkestone Museum. Punch and Judy shows were familiar sights on the streets throughout the Victorian period and were enjoyed by adults and children alike.

Victorian Egg Decorating

10:30-12:30 & 13:30-15:30

Taking inspiration from the Museum’s collection, come along and decorate your own small egg! There are two drop-in sessions during the day, it will be on a first come first served basis and the room will fill up fast!

Mindfulness Colouring (Autism hours)

Put the worries of the day behind you and join us for a free mindfulness colouring session. Choose from a variety of images inspired from the museum collection to colour. This event will be a QUIET two hours where the lights will be dimmed to create an autism friendly environment.

The Dr Fossil Show

Meet Dexter the Dinosaur. He’s an amazingly lifelike 4m long walking, roaring baby Tyrannosaurus Rex! And he hardly ever eats children! Catch the DinoBabies Walkaround at 11-11.30 and 15.30-16.00 along with The Dr Fossil Show at 12.00-12.30 and 14.30-15.00 and storytelling at 13.30-14.00.

Prehistory Workshop

Find out about life in Britain from the Stone Age through to the Iron Age! Let us take you on a journey spanning almost a quarter of a million years, looking at how people evolved and what effect technological and spiritual advances had on their everyday lives. Examining the changes in the climate caused by the Ice ages and how they adapted to the environmental changes they encountered.
