Young People

Welcoming young people with special events and experiences.

We are gradually increasing our engagement with young people, particularly in the 11 to 16 age range. Initially, this will see a regularly Saturday Young Curators Club which runs during school term time, with participants working towards either a term or end of school year outcome which will feature in the Museum, locally or on the World Wide Web. Please join our mailing list or follow our Facebook page for further announcements about Young Curators.

We welcome applications from young people looking for a school work experience placement. These normally last for one week, Monday to Friday, between 9.30am and 3.30pm, concentrating on the day-to-day work of the Museum work alongside the Museum team. We will need full contact details of the teacher responsible for co-ordinating work experience, any assessment requirements and a copy of the school’s work experience risk assessment before considering any application.

As well as work experience, we also welcome application from Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants who are looking to fulfil their volunteering or skills section at Bronze, Silver or Gold level. You must already be enrolled with a licensed organisation (school, youth club, DofE Direct, etc.) and we will require the contact details of your Award leader before considering any application.
