Its February Half-Term and we're heading back to the days of yore and exploring medieval life. Today its all about having a laugh - find out about court jesters and make a jesters hat and wand.

Activities run downstairs in our learning space (11am-12.45pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm), are FREE and are suitable for ages 4-11, but if you're older or younger you'll still be more than welcome.

No booking is necessary, although if it gets a little busy we may have limits numbers for everyone's comfort and safety.

Activities are FREE with but a donation (suggested £1.00 per child) towards materials is appreciated.

MakeIt! Chinese New Year

Make a lucky rattle drum

We'll be celebrating the start of the Luna New Year, often celebrated as the Chinese New Year.

MakeIt! Northern Lights

Make a mini Northern Lights scene

We'll be making a silhouette picture of the famous Aurora Borealis for our first MakeIt! of 2023. This phenomena has fascinated humans for thousands of years, so we're going to lift the lid on the physics behind this natural marvel for our younger visitors!

Home Education Workshop

Meet an Anglo-Saxon!

Our next monthly workshop for home educated children takes place on Friday 18th November. This time we're exploring the people that lived in Folkestone between 1,000 and 1,500 years ago - the Anglo-Saxons! Learn about Anglo-Saxon life, their traditions and crafts, including cord making and produce a replica of our fabulous gold Kentish disc brooch!

Workshop's are suitable for 4-12 year old's;  younger ones can still come along but will need a hand. The workshop starts at 10.30am and finishes at 1.00pm. To cover materials and preparation costs a charge of £3.00 per child applies (under 4's go free) and places must be booked in advance.

This Hindu festival symbolises the spiritual ‘Victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance’. The festival also gives people hope and positivity by sharing messages of love and happiness with friends and family. We’d love to see how your lamps and garlands has turned out, you can post pictures on our Facebook page alongside any Diwali messages you would like to send out!
